I've been reading an excellent book "The Art of Love" by Eric Fromm, he uses some ideas from social psychology and a psychological theory called object relations to demonstrate that people can develop unhealthy attachments or relationships and call them love when it isnt love at all.
People who think that falling in love and being in love means an unconditional obsessive devotion arent going to like this book, it could appear to put a bit of a dampner on the idea of le grande amor (an idea that I'm actually infavour of) but Fromm isnt meaning that. Simply that being in love does mean taking leave of your senses.
I've also read another book The Conditions of Love, its a philosophical book, I'm not sure of the authors name but I think its as good a book as Fromm's.
What does anyone else think about love and do you read about it? What books would you recommend on the topic?
